Glasgow Caledonian University is one of Scotland’s largest universities.
Tracing its origins back to 1875, this dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking university has a large, self-contained campus in the city centre, with many purpose built facilities making it one of the best learning environments in the UK.
The university has six academic schools:- The Built and Natural Environment
- Caledonian Business School
- Engineering and Computing
- Health
- Life Sciences
- Law and Social Sciences.
The university has nearly 17,000 students from over 100 countries. 50% of students are the first in their families to attend university.
You could spend part of your undergraduate course abroad through an exchange with a university in USA, Canada or Australia.
Support for learning
Learner Support Services include:- the Effective Learning Service – for tailored support with study skills, English Language and exam and revision skills
- a specialist Learner Support team for international students
- the Disability Service, which can arrange support to enable students who have a disability or impairment, medical condition or special educational need, to take a full part in university life.
Access courses for adults and pupils- The university recognises Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) courses for adults.
- The Summer School runs over 12 weeks, for both adults and school pupils.
- The university participates in Focus West, a programme of activities delivered in 29 secondary schools to support targeted pupils who may be thinking about applying to further and higher education.
Advanced entry
If you have a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) you may get into a degree course at year 2 or 3. The university also provides a range of two year top up-degrees which integrate with specific HNCs.
Part time study
Glasgow Caledonian programmes are available in a variety of formats such as evening, day release and distance learning to suit its students.
