Students From Abroad - Student support and finance

Tuition Fees
Citizens of European Union countries outside the UK do not pay tuition fees when attending undergraduate higher or further education courses in Scotland.

Most non-EU students (apart from those with refugee or asylum-seeker status) are liable for fees at the overseas rate. There are a few specific exceptions. For details see the Student Awards Agency for Scotland website at:  www.saas.gov.uk/student_support/international_students.htm or the websites of individual institutions.

Course Fees

Normally, you will pay the full cost of your course. Course fees vary considerably, and so it can pay to shop around. Examples for 2009-2010 are as follows:

Faculty/Department

Annual fees

Arts, Business or Law

£9,800 - £11,750

Science or Engineering

£8,150-£12,950

Medicine

£1,7950 - £22,600

Some institutions offer Overseas Student Scholarships, particularly for post-graduate courses. The British Council is another possible source of funding – visit http://www.educationuk.org/scotland

Visit the website of the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) at:
